There are lots of owners in denial out there about their fat dogs. Lots of extra vet bills, and it shortens our time with them. I’s glad to say I weigh mine monthly, and adjust their food to make sure they aren’t gaining weight (unless they need to, which is rare), and they very rarely get table food. Rescue sends me the fat dogs, Because I help them lose the weight. My time with them fostering is short, but their permanent parent needs to love them for as long as possible. It’s easy to get bad knees and legs also, and the weight is so hard on that.
